Robotic Surgery

The future has begun at the Dr. Pírek’s Clinic

The Orthopaedic department of the Dr. Pírek‘s Clinic is the first in the Czech Republic to introduce robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery.

Designed by surgeons for surgeons, the Robotic Orthopaedic Surgery Assistant (ROSA®) combines advanced technology to collect and analyze data before and during surgery to aid in the planning and precise placement of knee replacements. After many years of collaboration with an American partner, and a year of preparation, Dr. Pírek‘s clinic is implementing robotic-assisted surgery in orthopedics.

Advantages of the robotic assisted surgery:

  • Safer and more precise course of surgery
  • A way to ensure the best possible joint function after surgery
  • Implantation of a state-of-the-art implant
  • Short waiting times

How the ROSA® robotic assistant works
:

As in other disciplines, robotics in orthopaedics, in conjunction with an experienced medical team, further enhances the safety and quality of orthopaedic surgeries performed.

The ROSA® system supports surgeons performing total knee arthroplasty with features that assist in bone resection as well as in assessing the condition of the soft tissue, making it easier to place the implant during surgery.

This technology allows knee surgery to be performed with respect to the anatomy of the individual patient with the highest degree of personalization possible. The procedure is planned according to the individual axis and fit of the limb, which is unique to each patient.

This helps to optimize the surgical plan specifically and customized. During surgery, ROSA® technology uses a camera and sensors to know exactly where the anatomical parts of the knee are – it can detect even the smallest movements in real time.

Using a robotic steering arm, it helps the surgeon precisely place the implant according to their plan, ensuring the most gentle and precise incisions with the utmost precision.

The goal of robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery is to provide the most gentle procedure possible, even for patients with severe joint disability, and to ensure the best possible joint function for the future.

In the past year, the doctors of the Dr. Pírek‘s Clinic have completed internships at leading European institutions. At the same time, the new method is being introduced locally with the direct assistance of experts from the American partner.

Additional payment for surgery with the ROSA® system

The patient only pays the part of the costs not covered by health insurance, the rest of the care is covered by health insurance. The patient's copayment in the case of robotic assistance is CZK 55,000.
