PÍRKOVO SANATORIUM (PÍREK'S SANATORIUM) - BACK TO THE FUTURE
In 1988, the maternity hospital, which the sanatorium had been transformed into after World War II, was closed in a state of disrepair. The surrounding forest park had fallen into disrepair...
In 1992, the premises were returned to the descendants of the founder, the Pírek's family, in a deplorable state of disrepair. The first major reconstruction took place in 1993, and from the following year the surgery and orthopaedics department was restored.
CLINIC WITH A NAME / 2004 - 2013
THE IDEA LIVES ON
In 2004, the Czech Republic joined the European Union. The name Pírkovo Sanatorium (Pírek's sanatorium) was changed to the Klinika Dr. Pírka (Dr. Pírek's Clinic) after an agreement with the founder's family.
Miroslav Pírek, M.D., son of Dr. Antonín Pírek, commented: "We continue the best tradition of care for the sick, started by the founder. The idea of Dr. Antonín Pírek lives on."
At the same time, in 2004, under the leadership of Mr. Miroslav Pírek and Mrs. Dušanka Pírek, a long-term reconstruction was started. In 2013, the reconstruction of the hospital was completed and the Klinika Dr. Pírka became a modern and progressive hospital facility using cutting-edge technologies, which placed the Dr. Pírek's Clinic project among the most extraordinary projects in the history of Czech healthcare.
New operating theatres, a sterilisation centre and an entrance hall with a reception area were built, which is directly connected to the surrounding forest park by glass surfaces. While the operating theatres are equipped with the latest technology, enabling even the most demanding procedures, the post-operative rooms give the impression of the best hotel facilities with a home-like feel.
MODERN AND FUNCTIONAL / 2018
MULTIFUNCTIONAL BUILDING
In 2018, the extraordinary Klinika Dr. Pírka Outpacient Building was inaugurated, winning the Building of the Year title for the best investment project. It is characterised by a massive stone wall on the northern façade, while the courtyard on the other side features a glass façade with consulting rooms. A light steel bridge connects the outpatient clinic to the park and the road leading to the hospital building.
